East Broad Top Enclosed Water Tank |
|
This attractive old tank and hand car shed sat by the EBT rails in Saltillo, Pennsylvania. The dimensions on the drawings are only approximate as I was working from some small, old photos in a book on the railroad and none of the photos was square on. Nor was there much to go by for scale except assuming the height of the door to be 7'6" or thereabouts. Still, the drawings are as close as I could make them and the structure has all the style and character of the long gone Saltillo tank. Anyone familiar with the East Broad Top will recognize it instantly. The water tank was inside the building, of course, and the chimney shows that heat was available to keep the tank from freezing when temperatures plummeted in a bad northeast winter. The small building alongside the tank is the pump house. |
